Aug 8, 2010 Marlboro, MA – The Shooters AAA Organization brought a Midget 1994-1995 team and a Junior 1991-1993 team to the Boston Challenge Cup in Marlboro, MA over the weekend of August 6 – August 8, 2010. The teams were Co-Head Coached by Jamie Cahill of the Long Island Gulls (Atlantic Youth Hockey League) and Darren Seid of the Chi-Town Shooters (All American Hockey League). The Midget 94-95 team was 3 – 0 in the preliminary round with an impressive 15 – 5 Goals For / Goals Against figure. Captained by Joe Bochichio, Nick Abenne, and Cory Gottfried the Shooters AAA 94-95 team only got better throughout the weekend. The semi-finals was a true test that left 2 of the 11 skaters injured. This left the 94-95 team limping into the finals with only 9 skaters at the end of a 5 game weekend. After entering the 3rd period with a 3-2 lead, the Shooters were eventually worn down, and lost 5-4. “We are very proud of the 94-95 team.” commented Head Coach, Jamie Cahill. “All the players worked very hard to put our team in a position to win the tournament, unfortunately we just barely came up short. We had a great weekend and a great summer season with an overall record of 9-1, with one tournament win and a second place finish.” The 91-93 team came flying out of the gates with a 9-1 and 5-2 win. In the 3rd preliminary game the Junior team almost lost their chance at the playoffs with a 2-2 tie. Fortunately the total Goals For / Goals Against differential (16 – 5) pushed them into 3rd place over all. Behind the leadership of Captains Steve Alonge, Steven Esposito, and Tyler Young the Shooters AAA Junior team was able to win the Semi Finals 5-2 and cap off the weekend with a very exciting 7-4 Finals win. “There were some outstanding individual efforts that we can be proud of, but I am most proud of the overall team performance.” commented Head Coach, Darren Seid. “We needed to break the players away from some more traditional systems, and get them to do some things differently, and by the finals they finally did. It was great to see.” Stay tuned to www.shootersaaa.com for more information on the Shooters AAA Organization and our new addition to our services: College and Professional Advising.
